เป็น​เวลา 1 ปี​นับตั้งแต่งานแสดงเดี่ยว​ครั้งสำคัญ​ keep in​ the​dark​ ที่หอศิลป​มหาวิทยาลัย​ศิลปากร​ ตะวันเดินสายแสดงงานที่ต่างประเทศ​ในหลายทวีป เริ่มด้วยไทเป โตเกียว​ กัวลาลัมเปอร์​ นิวยอร์ก​ และปารีส จนมาถึงงานเดี่ยวสุดท้ายของปีนี้ที่กรุงเทพ​ฯ

ผลงานของตะวันได้ท้าทายปรากฏการณ์มากมายหลายมิติให้เกิดขึ้นในสังคม ไม่ว่าจะเสียดสีเย้ยหยันวัฒนธรรม สังคม การเมือง นอกจากนี้ตะวันมักเข้าไปเป็นส่วนหนึ่งในการตั้งคำถามกับร่องประวัติศาสตร์ที่บิดเบี้ยวในสังคมไทยเเละสังคมโลก ฝีเเปรงที่สดฉับไวผนวกกับเรื่องราวที่ท้าทายเฉียบคม ทำให้ผลงานของตะวันสามารถพาเรื่องไปยังดินเเดนต่าง ๆ ได้เหนือจินตนาการเเละน่าสนใจ

นิทรรศการ “ชั่วฟ้าดินสลาย” โดยตะวัน วัตุยา นำเสนอหุบเหวของช่วงหนึ่งของประวัติศาสตร์การเมืองไทยที่วนเวียนซ้ำไปมาอย่างไม่รู้จบ ซึ่งครั้งหนึ่งมีความพยายามสร้างรัฐชาติด้วยการโฆษณาชวนเชื่อโดยเริ่มจากคติชาตินิยมจนไปถึงการสร้างจุดศูนย์กลางใหม่ให้ชาวไทย เเต่สิ่งที่ซ้อนเร้นอยู่ในนั้นกลับสร้างเรื่องราวที่ส่งต่ออย่างน่าสะพรึง ในนิทรรศการนำเสนอห้วงขณะของประวัติศาสตร์ที่เกิดขึ้นในสังคมไทย โดยสิ่งที่เกิดขึ้นคือจิตรกรรมที่นำเสนอเรื่องราวที่มีความต่างกันอย่างสุดขั้ว ด้านหนึ่งนำเสนอเเต่สิ่งสว่างสุขสดใส ด้านหนึ่งนำเสนอสิ่งมืดมนดั่งผีชั่วร้ายที่ตามหลอกหลอนสังคมไทย

ชั่วฟ้าดินสลาย By Tawan Wattuya

It has been a year since the significant solo event, “keep in the dark” at the Art Gallery of Silpakorn University. Tawan presents his work abroad on numerous continents, starting with Taipei, Tokyo, Kuala Lumpur, New York, and Paris, and concluding with the solo event of the year in Bangkok.

Tawan's work has challenged many multidimensional phenomena in society, whether sarcastic of culture, society, and politics. In addition, Tawan often takes part in questioning the distorted history of Thai society and world society. His brushes, combined with a challenging story, enable his work to lead the show visitor to different lands beyond imagination and interest.

"ชั่วฟ้าดินสลาย" Exhibition by Tawan Watthuya presents the whole of a period of Thai political history that repeats endlessly. There was once an attempt to build a nation-state through propaganda, starting with nationalism and creating a new center for the Thai people, but what was hidden in it creates a terrifying story. The exhibition presents the moments of history that occurred in Thai society. What happened was a painting that presented a totally different story. On the one hand, it presents only things that are bright and happy, but on the other hand, it presents the darkness like evil ghosts in Thai society.
